Great advice Baalzamon. Not sure what it means but it sounds good.
I am putting in the K's on the local terrain so I'm quite satisfied with the progress to date. Tootling around the local hills at a respectable pace should see me through the "escapade". At this stage I'm not looking to vie for the yellow jersey.
It's a difficult concept but the rail service to Mount Helena ceased in 1964 and the prospect of driving fifty km down to the flatlands and Kelmscott rail station just to ride back up into the hills doesn't present as cost effective exercise for me.
The dam busters ride sounds like a rollicking good boys' own adventure though. . I've done the bits around Parkerville, down to Boya, Paul's Valley and across to Karragullen, more like a ride through the hills catchment than an RAF assault on the Ruhr dams but I digress.
The ride I suggested takes in part of it ... Mundaring to Kalamunda return, about 40km with the benefit of Pubs at both ends and the Mundaring Weir Hotel in the middle. Excellent practice for the escapade if stopping every now and then for "How's the Tranquility" is your thing. Time it in with the Sunday Session at the Weir and it would be a great day out.
Enjoy the ride on Sunday.
