Had one of those rides today. mostly OK, if a little cloudy, but hit Arthurs Seat area & it got really foggy, drizzly & kinda wet. Not normally a problem, but when I hit Purves Rd up the back of The Seat, I discover horrible, mucky, clayey roadworks. When I stop at the top, by which time things sound really grindy, the bike is covered in sh!t. If I leave it, I won't have a driveline by the time I get home, so I find a tap & wash as much mud off the rims, brakes & drive parts as I can. It's a bit noisy as it dries out, but still appears relatively intact. Nothing a good dose of lube won't fix. PS bike runs full 10sp. Ultegra setup. I get 3 chains to a cassette, & haven't changed chainrings yet.
Just ride the bloody thing and enjoy yourself!
