Nearly all pedals have a facility to adjust the spring tension on the 'gate' part of the pedal, to make it easier or harder to get in & out. If you will require plenty of unclipping, or are not as experienced with cleats, wind the screw out to make operation easier. Or make them tighter if you prefer. Now, to one of the other points. When I got the Keos, I decided to use my existing cleats (Actually cheap imitations), which had done a couple of HPV campaigns & wear them out first. While they were ok in the vehicle, on the road they were shocking. They had so much float (or so it felt) that I could barely get enough rotation to get out, it felt like I was going to dislocate my knee, or fall off before I could unhook. Immediate switch to new grey cleats & no more problems.
Just ride the bloody thing and enjoy yourself!
