Riding into work this morning, went to click down a gear only to find it go up instead. Of course I had to try this several times to conclude that the shifting was in-fact... stuffed (the process ending up in a leg busting 53-12)!
Shifter is a RHS SRAM Rival unit. It changes fine moving down the cassette (up in gear ratios), but won't change up the cassette. If I stop, force the derailleur up the cassette and turn the cassette (to engage cogs at forced position), then shift the new position is maintained.
Any tips? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the shifters are 'non-serviceable units'.
My current thoughts go along the lines of:
- half a can of WD40
- some swearing
- followed by the credit card, a not-so-LBS, and a week of strength training
To make matters worse, shifters seem to only come in sets theses days
. Given these are less than a year old I'll probably look into what warrantee they came with.
Thanks in advance.
