I was pumping up my tyres last night, and as has happened previously, the valve on the tube snapped off as I was trying to get the pressure with my pump (some kind of BBB floor pump I think). That's the second time it has happened I think, but it seems to be a bit of an issue every time I pump the tyres up, is it the pump, the valve, or me? These are road presta valves. Is there a pump that I can get that will just completely cover the valve without me having to put it on and fiddle around until it gets the pressure?
The second problem, I'm sure I checked that the tube was in properly, but perhaps I wasn't too thorough, this morning riding to work, I had a pop, and only after pumping up the the replacement tube noticed that there was a massive tear in the tyre. Picture below, can anyone shed some light on what I may have done wrong? the tear was on the opposite side of the wheel to the valve. Sorry about the quality and focus of the photo, that's an iphone for you.
