These bicycle things are gonna send me bankrupt!
I checked the chain on my SS commuter at the start of winter, expecting that the previous year-and-a-bit of commutes might have taken its toll. Still good, according to Mr Park's tool.
Ignored it all winter... squirted a bit of lube on a dirty chain when it sounded like it needed it. Could probably count the number of dry-road commutes this winter on one hand.
And then, all of a sudden, the chain's worn beyond the limits. Throw a new one on, and it's all grindy on the rear sprocket. Old chain back on and it's quiet.
Yep, it seems that in not quite two years of all-weather commuting and a neglectful maintenance schedule, I've worn out a chain AND a sprocket on my commuter. Replacement parts are going to cost nearly as much as half a tank of petrol
