Tuesday night's race finished in confusion for me - I had no idea where I was!
No such confusion last night at SVCC B grade - I finished stone motherless last and had a ball doing it!!
"Team Bicycle Superstore" lit the wick straight out of the blocks...and a group of us kept it lit for most of the race. The only real rests came from lapped traffic and when A grade passed us.
I had a inkling that something was wrong with the TCR and I actually asked whether my rear was going flat - kept going when I was assured that it wasn't!
Anyway, stayed in the first third the whole race. Hip flexor soreness (thank goodness I start Pilates classes again next week) meant that I stopped pinging off the front for a while, I was getting bloody sore...but there were a number of others ready to give the sprinters a stretch or two, before their turn to shine
Got to the last lap and going up the back straight..cramp hit! As if on cue, the entire bunch slowed down - which gave me a chance to change gears and grind through it - pleased to say that most of the guys riding alongside me didn't even know!!
Got my 2nd wind and still in the first 4 wheels. You bloody bewdy, I think. But it wasn't to be. Down into Dandi Rd corner, and the back end goes squishy. Put the hand up, call out "flat" and roll to a stop under the bridge. Bugger. So close and yet so far!
Oh well..the guys who set the pace, for the most part figured in the results, so I'm good with that. Must've torn the legs off a few of those blokes sitting at the back
