Eh what? Deep grading means that each grade has a treasonable number of competitive riders who could win it and thus the gaps in standard as you go up the grades are not huge. A decent handicapper is of course important to weed out the egomaniacs who would rather an easy win in a lower grade than have to compete for it. Makes for better racing imho.
I thought that was what you meant. It's something I noticed as well especially compared to the Crits that Footscray do. Good racing with them to buy the jump between grades is a bit sharper.
