I thought it was very clear.
First you say "pressure strips are no good, they will get vandalised".
One sentence later, you say, "it must be portable so we can pack it away to prevent vandalism".
So why are pressure strips no good?
Because they're not (at least, the ones I've seen) very portable. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that a pressure strip similar to the one used at DISC would not last very long if it was regularly moved around. My brief discussion with Nath when he's been repairing the one at DISC implied that they're not very robust when moved. If I'm wrong, I'd be thrilled, it's probably way cheaper and simpler than an optical beam solution.
