Crib Point B Grade
Today's racing was delayed by half an hour due to the fog.
During the wait I noticed that at 5 degrees, Gozzo was obviously feeling the heat as he had opted for the short sleeves without the arm warmers!
When the racing finally got underway the B grade hardman, Neale Adams, attacked and set up a nice pace unlike last week when we dawdled for ages.
Today I managed to stay up at the front - heaps more fun than being on the tail and not that much harder. As a consequence I for one had a great ride and finished feeling like I had been in a race and not a Sunday cruise.
Although it felt like the pace was quicker than last week, C grade did manage to catch us again in the section from the last corner up to the finish line.
They were on their last lap whilst we still had another to go, so although they slowed up once past us in preparation for the final sprint, we kept back to give them a clear go.
On our final lap Neale Adams attacked at the top of the hill half way around the course and opened up a huge gap which was never bridged.
I could be wrong, but I suspect that that may have been his last ride in B grade - especially winning by such a margin.
The rest of us were left to fight out the sprint and I ended up around eighth.
Distance covered was 67km @ 35.9kmh average - I reckon B grade should average around the 37kmh mark so perhaps a fraction slow but then there weren't a lot helping at the front (although the ones who did were great - Rock Racing springs to mind but there were a couple of others - you know who you are).
