Wow! I remember lunches with huge gourmet meat and salad rolls or whole small yummy pizzas plus
salads or pasta salads plus
salad or frittata plus salad then with fresh fruit plus
a package of biscuits and cheese plus
a packet of lollies! and yes, once the food was a little frosty when the weather was very
frosty but I would really prefer to know the food was kept chilly until the last minute rather than sitting around at room temperature for hours...wouldn't you?
Altogether I thought the food was fabulous, innovative, amazingly tasty and varied and incredible that it was hot when needed or fresh when needed for over 8,500 people! I was a teacher travelling with twelve teenagers (notoriously fussy) and we all were very happy with the food and some kids who would never eat salad or vegetables at home ate both with gusto! And loved all the desserts! And there was no lack of food, with fruit and bread and spreads freely available at breakfast to take after you had pigged out on cooked breakfasts and/or cereals and/or pastries!!
And my husband describes me as a fussy eater....which is why I go Vegetarian - but I found tofu or cheese or egg or other protien rich foods in every meal...
I would thoroughly recommend the food on the GVBR - it was good in 1990, but better in 2004. It's a drawcard for me, and I'm bringing 16 fussy teenagers this year!
