Sorry Terry, but this forum system does not allow users to share files as they did on MC2. All is not lost though - here are some effective alternatives:
Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) give you a small amount of web hosting with your connection. You can upload your file and then link to them from your forum post. This is definately worth enquiring about if you're also interested in creating a webpage. Try your ISP's website for details.
There are many websites out there that allow users to create photo albums at no cost. Try Flickr
or Yahoo Photos
Why no file-sharing? The extra costs involved in hosting a large amount users files are prohibitive, particularly for an organisation like Bicycle Victoria. The reason that most large forums don't provide file-sharing is that it can become particularly hard to manage and is easily misused.
Posts to your email
At the moment there is no option allowing you to receive posts by email. You can watch
specific topic though so that you will be notified by email of replies. Either select the link 'watch this topic for replies
' at the bottom of a topic page, or to see replies to any topic you post in, set 'Always notify me of replies
' on in your profile.
When there are only a moderate amout of posts to the forums, I can understand that an 'email me everything' feature would be very useful. One problem is that it discourages people from participating in the discussion (since the can't reply by email). Another is that all things going to plan, there will be massive numbers of posts per day which may be a challenge to handle by email. We may look at adding the feature some time down the track.
I'll add this info to the FAQ because I'm sure many people will also be wondering the same thing.
