There are usually enough chairs in the food-hall tent for breakfast and dinner, but bringing a chair to sit on near your tent is a great idea. I bring one of those foldable tripod chairs but I've seen others bring beach chairs. It's nice not to have to sit on the ground when you want to relax by your tent.
I agree with Marti, I have a little three legged number and have taken it each time,weighs nothing,takes up hardly any space and is great for sitting on for putting the shoes on and off. Or watching someone pack up your tent.
After a long days ride there is nothing like a small, firm, stool.
