 W-a-h !! The second of my LBSs is no more ... as of today.
I had a new helmet on order (after a recent prang cracked my old one) and was using a near new loaner. I took it down today to see if the order was in only to be met by the owner/operator's sincere apologies and a near empty shop. The shop's been there for years, current owners for the last three,
The shop was supporting about 3 EFT staff on reasonable turnover but but a lack of capital on the way in (therefore large borrowings) got them in the end. Really sad to see the guy standing there with a couple of other blokes wandering around, I think they may have been disconnecting the utilities ...
I'm guessing that was Ride On Bikes - I saw a sign there last week saying that another bike shop is opening soon in the same premises.
Hey Presto - TheRide Cycles
opened last Saturday.
I wandered in for a chat today - nice guys looking for some business. Stocking lots of Specialized stuff and some Cannondale and Cube sale items, full service facilities etc pretty much as before. In fact original shop-fit has been retained, and these guys knew the previous owner and were very sympathetic to his circumstances.
Tried to sell me a Roubaix SL4 Sport 105
on the spot but I wasn't biting ... well not today anyway.
