It depends on what type you've got on the bike as to whether you need to change when you mount it in the trainer. You need one of the cheap, chunky all-steel ones, especially the nut. The ones with the plastic cap pressed onto the nut are especially fragile as the plastic cap pops off the small steel proper nut. This packs a fair potential for falling off and causing damage to yourself as well as the bike (and possibly furnishings as well, depending on where you set up).
