The lever action takes about one ride to get used to - its much better if you like a firmer action, quicker changes and a solid lever (no flop) plus you can drag the levers back into the bars when on the drops. They also have better ergonomics (for me) and the reach is adjustable.

No real complaints about Shimano but it still has the ugliest hoods and is just too smooth - no feel or character
