Thanks for the response. I can guarantee I have ridden over debris. This happens to be what most tyres a designed to do. 99.9% of the purchacers of these tyres don't have a Skoda following them on their ride.
When talking about the durability of the tyre; this is usually class/type sensitive. E.g. Race or touring. It is accepted that a gripper tyre which has to softer is certainty prone to damaged easily. E.g., drive a F1 tyre on a suburban street.
We have found the response to the Ultremo ZX to be extremely positive.
It would not be outrageous to suggest that you may have ridden over debris such as swarf (metal shavings) that has cut the tyre. Maybe you didn’t.
Due to the fact the tyres were purchased externally of the Australian distribution I would suggest you take the matter up with Ribble. They should be as willing to service you as I would have been if you were one of my customers.
It's probably not a matter of whether the tyres are defective or not. If you study the Schwalbe website they rate the tyres as highly durable.
You are implying that the 'soft compound' is prone to damage.
I purchased them on the basis of a Cycling + review and the manufacturers description of performance.
I'm almost thankful I purchased a spare just in case. Maybe I should not be
Your email regarding your Ultremo ZX’s has been forwarded to me from Germany.
I am not sure what I can add. As you are most likely aware the Ultremo ZX is our top race clincher tyre. In order to achieve the level this extremely high level of grip the compound is soft.
You may have been unlucky and have ridden over debris.. The important thing to look for is to see whether or not the carcass has been cut or affected.
If you believe the tyre to defective I would be more than happy to inspect the tyre with a view to replacement.
If you would like to proceed with the warranty inspection process could you please send your name and address to me as well the place and approximate date of purchase. I will then send you a tracking number so you will able to have a reference through out the very short process.
I trust this meets your satisfaction.
