Yes, I did manage to get up (admittedly a little bit late - living up to my reputation of sleeping through my alarm
). I woke with a sore stomach this morning - turns out it was just a combination of anxiety and hunger, so I felt better after forcing some cornflakes in.
Left the house just before 8 am (bit later than I'd hoped) and got to Black Rock around 8:15 am (or thereabouts), so I dunno whether they were ahead or behind of me at that point.
But by jolly was it freezing this morning - going down Service Street hill my hands were so cold they were hurting, so I considered going back home for my long gloves, but decided against it. Soon after Black Rock they finally warmed up
Oh, and I finally see what Para means about Polar HRM giving strange readings if jersey flapping - going down the hill/towards station this morning (2 mins from home, not working hard at all) my HR was 204 according to my HRM. Obviously some kind of error there!!
Eventually made it to Frankston and up Hopes Rise (Olivers Hill) and saw a "Mt Eliza Village" - so rode into the town and rang Dave on his mobile. Turned out that they were in the coffee shop just across the road from where I was calling from !!
I definately enjoyed the hot chocolate (yeah I had a skinny, cos I like the taste of them better) and mixed berry muffin.
As for the return back - definately didn't enjoy Oliver's Hill descent today ... claiming the left lane due to getting blown around by the gusty winds. I got hit by a gust just where the bike lane starts - so into bike lane ... next thing I know I'm "claiming the lane" again.
I was thinking of going into the headwind all the way to Caren's, but the wind was really gusty just before Bay Road, Sandringham - so I decided to abandon ship at that point and took the side streets home.
Couldn't have timed my arrival at home better ... my mum and twin sisters (on Year 11 school holidays) were about to start lunch, and I was STARVING
Now a question ...
On the way down to Mt Eliza, as well as coming back - I noticed that part of my left foot near my toes/under ball of foot had gone numb and I couldn't feel anything.
When I got home, I noticed that my 2nd little toe was all white, as was the underneath of my foot.
So is this numbness/pins and needles in my foot luckily to be due to getting cold feet? (I have Pearl Izuim R2 road shoes which are pretty breathable) Or could it be due to something else?
Hopefully its just due to cold feet => hopefully mum will approve me getting booties or toe covers now!!
(Even though it's MY money ... )
