Back home in Perth i used to do a ride that occured on both the solstices (or close to). The ride would involve riding to all 5 dams surrounding Perth which would equate to about 280 odd k. It has been going for years and is an awesome day out. So i have decided to run it in bonny Melbourne.
I have drawn a map up on bikely to show the planned route. For those of you that dont know Bikely, it traces a route over Google maps to give you distances, etc.

Roughly, it head up to the Nongs where we knock out the Cardinia and Silvan dam, then up to Healesville for the Maroondah Dam, across to Yarra Glen for Sugarloaf and then up over Kinglake and down to Yan Yean to knock off the Yan Yean Ressie before heading back into town. All up its about 240k.
Its a big day out but it is defintely not a smashfest. Steady ks (30kph) so we should be done in about 9 or so hours including lunch and breaks.
The route provides a couple of "get of jail" spots to head back to the city if you are stuffed (ie in from St Andrews instead of heading up to Kinglake).
Starts and finishes at Cafe Racer in St Kilda. 8am exact start.
Already have 10 starters. Let us know if you are keen!
