A weak low pressure system will develop just to the southwest of Victoria today
before drifting across Victoria during the weekend, reaching the Tasman Sea on
Monday. A strong high pressure system will developing south of the Bight during
After local morning fogs inland, conditions will be partly cloudy today with
isolated showers, mainly near the coast and about the eastern ranges. Shower
activity will increase over the west late afternoon and evening as the low
pressure system approaches. The day will be cool to cold with generally light
winds tending moderate northerly over the west late in the day.
The low will begin to drift across Victoria during Saturday with scattered
showers expected tending to rain areas about the ranges and falling as snow on
the Alpine peaks. The day will be cool to cold with generally light to moderate
northeast to northwesterly winds.
Further scattered showers are expected on Sunday, mainly over southern and
mountain areas with further snow on the Alpine peaks. Cool to cold conditions
will continue and winds will be generally light.
Cool to cold conditions and southerly winds will then develop over Victoria on
Monday. Scattered showers are again likely in southern and mountain areas but
conditions will be mainly fine over the northern plains.
