You mean it will be possible some time soon to take the train to Wangaratta without having to box your bike?
You've never had to box your bike
on the Wangaratta train
.... unless you took that silly Countrylink Sydney XPT.
Well, I guess you must have access to info that the V-Line ticket seller didn't know. As said above:

When I booked a return trip to Wangaratta for the AAC long weekend for myself + bike in late December, using the V-Line ticket office, a staffmember there rang me and assured me that this wasn't available through V-Line and I had to re-book through Countrylink (which has the boxing requirement). Here's my previous post in the AAC thread on the subject:
The Countrylink person I just spoke to said that there should be no track works in the AAC time period, but of course said there are never any guarantees.
Another complication was that I made the original booking through V/Line. They then called me, saying that bicycles aren't handled through the V/Line booking system, but that the Countrylink system allows it. So I had to cancel the V/Line booking (which apparently takes about 10 business days to show up on my Visa card, even though the initial online payment is deducted virtually immediately - funny that
). I then re-booked through the Countrylink system. They then told me I need to use a bicycle box (which they said they can provide), in order to take my bike on the train.
I'm new to this booking of myself + bike on a train trip, so I guess the above is pretty obvious to some of you, just not to me.
Have any of you ever used the Countrylink-provided bike boxes before? Are they OK?
Not having a go at you, by the way. It's just that I'm a relative newcomer to Melbourne, having only been here 2.5 years, and also haven't used the trains much, as just about every commute has been by bicycle. So when the V-Line guy told me what he did, I had to take his word for it. If you know another way to take my bike to Wangaratta without having to box it, can you please let me know?
