I was considering doing another Around the Bay ride this coming long weekend, and had a question about the roads south of the Princes Fwy between Werribee and Avalon. Are these rideable?*I was considering the following route, starting from the Geelong Rd underpass: 25 West Rd, Old Boundary Rd, Murtcam Rd, Paradise Rd, Twentyninemile Rd, Beach Rd, Princes Fwy, then turning left at Forest Rd to head for Geelong. Have any of you travelled these roads, and does it sound workable?
If it's not doable, I may just go straight down the Fwy (which would cut down on the kms slightly), but damhooligan advised me it contains numerous puncture faeries.
This time around, I was going to take the more scenic coast route between Geelong and Queenscliff, i.e. via Portarlington, to make up for the more direct route down the west coast of the Bay. All up, it should be 250km. Oh, and weather permitting, of course.
If anyone cares to join me for all or part of the ride, let me know. I'll probably leave Parkdale around 6am (or even a tad earlier), so I expect to get to Queenscliff around 12:30 to 1pm. I'll probably have lunch on the ferry like last time, then ride the home stretch to Parkdale along the east coast of the Bay!
* And no, I'm not worried about those watery tarts in the mists of Avalon throwing swords at me!
