Turns out... it's not that difficult, really.
I reckon anybody who rides fixed on the road without a brake is insane - backpedalling is not the same as braking.
Riding fixed on the road with a cheap single-pivot caliper brake on a cheap plated (?) rim is marginally less insane. I'll see if a decent set of pads will help there.
Don't like this handlebar setup. Was worth a try though. Will change to something else.
