the first solo guy was Howdy, followed by me (Rowdy
) and then Blybo, Ash and Glen in the group of 3.
Have you got an example of what your 'helmet-cam' footage looks like?
I've uploaded the video of the five of you here
And video from the summit here
Suggest to right click links and Save As... as they are not set up for streaming. I didn't put on Youtube as it reduces the quality.
Some poor quality on the first video due to a loose connection causing intermittent loss of picture which luckily fixed itself during the ride.
The camera is a Sony 480TVL 768x494 resolution which is DVD quality (NTSC format). Video quality is mostly dependent on the recording device. When I record using a Mini-DV camcorder the quality is much better but tapes last only one hour and the camera is relatively bulky/heavy. This video is recorded onto an Archos AV-500 which compresses to .avi format and loses a bit of quality even at 2500 bps. But in stop frame you can read, for instance, the numberplate on the passing car.
Quality of the camera work is also not great giving lots of video of the road. When I'm sitting up or walking the position is fine but on the hoods or in the drops the camera points at the road. Nodding my head to passing cyclists doesn't help either. I am going to try mounting it on the bars next time but that has its own problems.
