Come one! Come all!! Explore the delights of the wonderous Mornington Peninsula as you embark upon the magical experience that is...
"The Duckmeister's Tour de Peninsula".
Meet at Frankston Pier carpark at 8:30am. From there, we travel along Nepean Highway, with a nice warmup ascent of Olivers Hill, to Moat's Corner at the back of Dromana. Up the first section of White Hill Rd, turning off to run along the base of the ridge on Boundary Rd, which feeds into the climb of Arthurs Seat.
After recovering at the summit, we cruise along the ridge toward Red Hill, then turn south for Flinders.
About halfway along Mornington-Flinders Rd, we take Baldrys Rd, for the dip through the "mini-corkscrew" at Baldry's Crossing, over the Purves Rd hump, and down Browns Rd through Rosebud South to Boneo Rd.
This takes us through The Corkscrew as we make our way to Flinders & Shoreham, before turning back inland, up to Red Hill and thence back to the summit of Arthurs Seat.
Descend via the fun bit, then hit the coast around Mt Martha, through Mornington and finishing with the blast down Olivers Hill, for a loop of 140km.
I'm getting in early, to allow some preparation time.
Please note, there is a strict weather clause - Baldrys Crossing and The Corkscrew are no fun in the wet. It's also to do with the leisurely start time - even on a fine day, those sections can be damp well into the morning, and are pieces of road that deserve respect. But don't let that scare you too much!
