Northern suburbs ride on Tuesday & possibly Friday mornings
Meet 6 am outside Cafe Ten 39 (1039 Mount Alexander Rd, North Essendon)
Heading along Glass St, Napier St, over to Mascoma St, up Melrose, towards the airport. Then turn left into Link Rd to Keilor Park Drive, Milleara Rd, along Dinah Parade (
love that little downhill), right into Hoffmans Rd, onto Buckley St, then take Lincoln Rd, right into Leek St & back to the cafe for coffee.
Ride distance 25 km. Bikely link
Average speed 25 +. Staying as a group for the majority of the ride, re-group if someone drops back on the hills. Then coffee afterwards
Would anyone be interested in doing a regular morning ride in the north western suburbs? I read about the NRR, MRR & RRR but it is too far for me to get to these rides in the morning.
I have mapped out the following route on bikely, starting in North Essendon, heading along Mt Alexander Rd, Woodlands St, Napier, over to Mascoma St, up Melrose, to the airport. Then turn back but head along Link Rd to Keilor Park Drive, Milleara Rd, Buckley St back to Mt Alexander Rd.
Have a look at bikely map.
I have researched the most important part: Coffee stop. There are 2 coffee shops in Mount Rd that are open at 7 am: Cafe Ten 39 and Ferguson Plarre. The lady at Ferguson Plarre said they get quite a few cyclists.
I was thinking of trying to do this once or twice a week (Tues & Fri ), but would really like to have some company. I would suppose my average speed doing this would be about 26-27, but not really sure. I'd hope if we get a group, that we would predominantly ride together, and re-group after the couple of hills. Some of you might have a better idea for a good route to do. I have often done this myself, as there isn't much traffic most of the time.
EDIT: Was thinking of a start time of 6 am.
