I think one of the great things about the Olympics is the opportunity for sports you don't normally see on TeeV to get a look-in. So I'm happy for, as what appears to be the most contentious one this time around, rhythmic gymnastics to get some airtime.
As in, let's look at the Australian competitor, and perhaps the winner. Once.
And then, move on and show something else (more) interesting. (Unless that's all that is going on in the schedule at that time - and then by all means show it).
I mean, seriously, I saw the same rhythmic gymnastic routines at least a dozen times over Fri-Sun.
Ch9 failed on many accounts - but principally IMHO, lack of variety of coverage, repeating the same replays of events time and time again, having 'studio commentary' when they could've been showing events live and woeful morning (and non-existant daytime) reviews of the previous day/night's events - and when they did show things, we just got the same stuff repeated. Again. You'd think there was only a dozen sports or so on the offer. They also didn't make use of the multiple channels - now I know there's legislation about that but sheesh... there could also be dispensation for that? And before people bleat 'but what if you don't like sport', a) it's not like ch9 have much more worth watching and b) we haven't had multiple digital channels for long... so prior to that all you got was olympics.
Stepping off box now.
