I always thought the saying that "justice delayed is justice denied" was pretty apt. http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/drag- ... 1qtgg.html
At first glance this is just another of the usual sad stories about death by motor vehicle in this country. Just another arsehole suspended driver (P plater no less) mowing down and killing an elderly pedestrian while drag racing other irresponsible arsehole drivers. Then you read that this offence occurred in MARCH 2008.
WTF is wrong with our justice system in this country? Almost 4 years to get to a pre-sentence hearing?
Happy for any of the lawyers (criminal or otherwise) to tell us how this is possible? I have been increasingly depressed lately reading about sad stories like this and then realising the woeful delay in concluding the judicial process.
The woman doctor (Heather Hunter) who was knocked from her bike and seriously injured? That offence occurred in October 2009, yet the rotten bastard that committed it was just sentenced last week.
How is that justice? For anyone?
