we're currently a part-PC part-MAC household - we have a macbook, but our iPhones have always been synced to the PC.
We use mobile-me to backup contacts and sync our calendars between our phones and the laptop, and I'm keen to keep on doing this, but it will mean eventually upgrading to iCloud as they're discontinuing the MobileMe.
We can upgrade our macbook OS to Lion to deal with this, but the PC is running perfectly fine on XP and I have utterly no intention of changing that to Vista just so we can get that computer compatible with the iCloud service.
What I would like to know is a few things - it would help if anyone has done the iCloud upgrade and has experienced any of these:
- I have a bit of music on my phone - it's all uploaded from CDs we own in person, we don't really purchase music from iTunes, preferring to own a physical higher-quality product that plays in more devices
If I upgrade to the iCloud will I lose this off my phone?
- We have about 80-100 CDs of music on the PC, and I'd love to be able to put these on my phone if need be at some point. If I am operating on the cloud, can I then go back and do manual music transfers through iTunes like before?
Worse-case scenario is that I have to burn all the CDs I want onto the Mac - this is ok, but because they're classical ones there is often no track data on the database and it is a VERY annoying and laborious process manually entering all the information for every CD I put in there.
Still a cyclist, albeit one who never rides any more....
