Anywho........just do it mate. Teach them to drive on the road. That works for thousands of backpackers and foreign students both here and overseas every year. I've crossed the Nullarbor (on my own) about 5 times. I wouldn't care to do it again, but it's a great trip if you've never seen that part of the country.
