I've put some protective clear tape on the downtube where the clap goes around to stop any potential marking. Not sure if it really an issue but better safe than sorry. I did have trouble with my MTB where the clamp caused a brake line to rub on the frame.
I love these racks so quick and easy to get bikes on and off.
Sorry no idea on fuel consumption.

I've gotten a quote from Roof Rack Superstore @ Moorabbin (http://www.roofracksuperstore.com.au/) for a Thule Wingbar and a single Pro Ride 591 for $604. I'm certain I could get it for cheaper if I went elsewhere or shopped about but I'm not sure if it's worth me taking time out of work to go source for it. it probably is worth the time, but I'm done farffing about and just want to get it done.
I was wondering however if I should go for the Pro Ride 591 or Out Ride 561. the difference between the two (apart from price) is the mounting options, where the former doesn't require you dismantling the front wheels, and the latter does. a bit of Google-fu has shown people having arguments for both, with many people preferring the 591 because it's a straight on/off system as opposed to having to remove the wheels and store it somewhere. I'm always a fan of leaving everything intact rather than breaking it down and finding space for it, and my scatter brain may just make me leave the wheel behind anyway.
however, has anybody faced issues with marking/"damaging" the downtube of a roadie on a 591? one of the work arounds I've constantly noticed is to put a bit of foam/piping where the clamp meets the down tube to reduce the risk of marking. but I thought I suss out what people think of it anyway.
the other benefit of a 561 is it being more "rigid", but I've also noticed counter arguments that state that any sway on the 591 is in the arm holding it, and not the bike.
and on another separate note. how much does the fuel consumption increase by in general? I know it's like asking how long is a piece of string, but I'm just curious to see the range/figures for people. again, if it helps, I'm driving a Honda Euro Accord.
