- is HD
- records two channels
- has a timeshift buffer
- allows rewinding of the timeshift buffer and watching without skipping
- allows rewinding of the timeshift buffer and recording of the rewound content plus the program going forward in a single file
*actually, it's not even doing this of late. Right now, on command, it's routing the timeshift buffer to /dev/null
Why even bother with HD these days. About the only thing HD anymore is some Nascar on One. THe TdF coverage in "HD" is still pretty terrible, probably due to logistical issues. Still you'd probably find it difficult to even source a SD pvr anymore.
I've got 2 Beyonwiz's, one a pure dual tuner PVR and the other a HDD-less dual tuner pvr/stb, you supply your own HDD but we haven't bothered as it networks with the other PVR.. Found them superior in almost every way other my old Toppy 5000 Masterpiece but unsure about the buffer recording, I've never tried what your after, I'll test later when we fire up the projector
+1 for Beyonwiz DP-P2. While there are some concerns about the brand (recently bought out) and the current models (no firmware updates in a while; speculation on the forums suggests that the company has moved on to the next models), mine has been faultless over the past year.

You can often buy lower spec (smaller HD) or refurbished models cheaply on eBay via their outlet:
