Weeeeeee - we have a few considerations for the size - one is budget of course, but the other is that we will have the TV sitting across a convex 90 degree corner in the room (if that makes sense) so we don't want to go huge because the bigger it is the more it will just out into the room. The whole catalyst for us wanting a new TV is that the old Sony Trinitron tube TV is really really too bulky where we have moved it now - it was fine when it was tucked away in a corner, but the new arrangement of the room is much better for all other aspects.
We could probably push a 40", but really no bigger, and that will stretch our [already stretched] budget somewhat.
As for sound, we already bought a good AV receiver and speakers a few months ago - I just made the mistake of reliving the horrors of the cable setup, as documented here
and realised I'm going to have to go through and change everything again when we get a new TV if we want to use HDMI for the devices
*sigh* So at the moment I think we only have 1 component and 1 composite cable running into the TV, and that could probably be changed to 1 HDMI and 1 composite.
The LEDs we saw today were very cool - good picture and so slim compared to the others, but also much much more $$$ We might go back tomorrow and have another gaze upon the bewildering display of blackness....
Simon is now shouting from the other room that if we buy a certain size or over of Sony we can get a free Blueray player with it
I think I've opened a can of worms here.... all I did was go to seal our floor, move the furniture, experiment with layout of the room, and suddenly it's going to cost us a fortune
It's rather like that 'oh, I'd love to have a second bike to commute on' conversation we had nearly 2 years ago
The current Affair show wasn't quite as infomercially as I'd expected - it didn't really tell us anything that asking questions of salespeople and reading Cnet hadn't told us, except there are some seriously good deals around! It looked at The Good Guys, JB, Dick Smith, Harvey Norman etc. etc. but didn't tell us anything new because we'd already been into all those stores and browsed their websites today anyway
Still a cyclist, albeit one who never rides any more....
