The first thread, So what annoys you about BV? was locked with the explanation that the topic title and introduction were:

Never mind that the discussion to that point had been largely constructive. Heavy handed but at least a reason was given.
The second thread, News - Allow motorbikes in bicycle-only lanes, a topic of interest to many was inexplicably locked. No reason was given for locking the topic and I can't see a reason for locking the topic.
What gives moderators? Are you scared of free expression? Should I go back to the Usenet newsgroup aus.bicycle which can be accessed at http://www.cyclingforums.com/f181-aus.bicycle.html or failing that http://groups.google.com/group/aus.bicycle on the WWW? For a more Melbourne flavour you could sign up on the Critical Mass Melbourne list. Although I don't agree with Critical Mass you'll find a bunch of really nice people there.
If the BV moderators continue their heavy handed management of the board people will leave for other boards where no censorship is imposed on them. Personally having the occaisional cook spam aus.bicycle is far preferrable to having my communication with other cyclists who have opposing points of view un-interrupted.
So either lay off or publish clear guidelines of what is likely to get a topic locked. I strongly suspect that this topic will be locked very quickly.
