I've read some of this thread with the occasional giggle.
My conversion to a sports model will click over to 30 years in early 2010. The "trigger", so to speak, had something to do with twins arriving 18 months after our first little ray of sunshine. So snip - snip it was, six weeks after the twins.
I was in Townsville at the time, riding a motorbike as the second family vehicle. On advice, I drove rather than rode to the clinic. Had it done at a local clinic, bloke owned a Jensen FF Interceptor, so we chatted about things petrol head while he did whatever he had to do.
No swelling, soreness, waddling or any of the other horror stories. Played basketball the next week, and back into the military sport and exercise stuff the same week. No issues nearly 30 years later either.
