We've done a few of them (hubby and I) as a mixed pair. Ballan will go down in memory as the muddiest race ever. Beaconsfield was a blast. Don't know if I'll make Officer cause I think I have to work that weekend, but maybe...
On the topic of girl recognition and enduro racing I was pleased to see that the Kona 24hr has reinstated the mixed pairs category. Last year this was scrapped and it was just open pairs. Well, no surprise, but we were the only boy/girl pair who bothered to enter. It's a chicken/egg argument. The organisers claimed there wasn't enough interest in a mixed pairs category to which I countered that there never would be if it didn't exist.
Even if there's only a few entrants, we might not get prizes, but at least have us racing each other not all the male entrants.
....But then I blew up my own argument as T(hubby) and I lead the open pairs category (ripping the legs off 20 male pairs) for the first 6 hours of the race before we stopped for dinner.
(the nature of mixed pairs enduro racing being that you have to stop for a nice dinner together and then a bit of tent time!
