Given I regularly commute between Melbourne and Canberra, and usually late into the night, I'd be a tad tired if I had to do that by bike.
Sure, there are busses, but the convenience of door to door is huge.
Plus my last 20 years have been been spent dragging my horse (RIP little matey
) around the countryside to competitions. The lifestyle involved in looking after him (going to see him twice a day) generally was not compatible with non-car-ownership for a variety of reasons. eg lugging food, equipment etc, distance, verrrry early starts and late finishes at night etc.
I'm considering selling my car to buy a cheaper one to commute with, but was recently called out to tow a horse home where a friend was injured in a fall. Someone took her for treatment, and given my car still has electric brakes and all the gear ready to roll, they thought of me. I don't really want to lose that capacity because I know I'll have another horsey in the future. hmmmm decisions decisions.....
