GTBR 2007 will be the third Great Ride Michelle and I have done and all within 12 months having done the GWABR in March and just finishing the GVBR.
(It is heart breaking to know that the towns we rode through just over a week ago are being threatened by a terrible fire front and that Mt Buffalo Resort that we were drinking coffee on the balcony of 14 days ago has been destroyed. Our thoughts and best wishes also go out to those threatened by the fires on the East coast of Tassie.)
Having visited Tassie many times, perhaps 20 in the last 15 years, and loving the place we are really looking forward to our first riding experience there. Cycle touring has become a passion and our cars can now sit for 2 to 3 weeks at a time without being used. I am not sure we would have registered for the West coast but even being old, slow, sloggers and having conquered Tawonga Gap and Powers Peak on the GVBR a review of the route profile for GTBR 2007 doesn't leave us feeling daunted at all. And of course will be looking forward to those pancakes at Elephants Pass. (I do hope thye can cater for up to 1500 hungry riders.)
We look forward to the Ride and the great experiences to be shared with friends we haven't even met yet.
