AS mentioned in another thread, I start work next week on St Kilda Rd (just past Domain Rd) and have decided to regularly cycle commute from Northcote.
Whilst I have a been a regular cyclist in the past, I haven't done any regular riding since I did my last QLD ride in 2010
So when I got this job I decided that regular cycle commuting would be the smart move - for many reasons (which I know you are all familiar with!) including:
*it's quicker than riding my motor scooter or catching PT
*it's less frustrating than sitting stuck in traffic on Hoddle street
*it's the perfect way to start training for this years Cycle QLD ride
*if I can keep out of the bike shop, I'll save money
*a great chance to wind down & relax after work
* a chance to get fit and lose weight.
The 'experiment' part of my commute will be to track 2 things:
*travel time which I expect to decrease as I get fit
*how many of the excess kg I am carrying I manage to lose.
Let's see how I go!
