Are you sure?
I was under the impression that Bicycles are "vehicles" as defined under the Road safety act, therefore are required to obey all roadrules.
So you are saying that cyclists can legally scoot along @ 90kmph in a 50kmph zone without fear or favour? (says cyclist who has been known to get upto 80kmph going downhill outside Punt Road Oval on Hoddle street which is a gazetted 60kmph zone
Irrespective of the above points. There should be a commuter/recreational link along the yarra. It just makes sense.
An engineer thinking logically?!?! yeah right....
Thereis..it's on the northside of the yarra from Banana Alley outwards or on the southside from the Rowing sheds outwards.
Given the "commuter/ recreational link" along beaconsfield parade in St Kilda - Port melbourne and the bike path along Harbour Esplanade, Docklands both fail dismally with pedestrians either walking along them or jaywalking across them on a diagonal basis, there is no hope a popular spot so close to the CBD, like southbank promenade, will be the exclusive domain of cyclists..but thanks for thinking.
