Not commuting, just out riding.
On the way back from Mordi this morning - 2 punctures!
First one, slow, and I pulled up and started the process near another guy doing the same - we chatted, and he offered me some of his CO2 to top up my tube, which I didn't turn down! Unfortunately, didn't seal well/properly, and tire ended up softer than before CO2, so reverted to pump. Thank you, self-professed weekend warrior, Bill, who's wife is a rehab OT (the things you learn about random people on the side of the road!).
Got going again, found my legs, fell in with a group that I couldn't outride, but didn't outride me, so I just sat off them for a while until... pfffft .... second flat very fast. Sigh.
Pulled up, knowing that I had no patches and no more spares! Started the process, thinking about how near a train station was, and eyeing passing cyclists for any that looked nice enough to bail up!
I chose two riders mainly due to speed - they were just taking off from a set of lights, so hadn't gained enough momentum, therefore easier to stop!
Here's an etiquette question: I offered to 'buy' a spare off them, but Mr Masi just gave me one. How much does one push to reimburse vs just graciously accepting the charity of others?
All I can say is, thank you thank you thank you, whoever you are Mr Masi - may good things come your way; I will be giving my spare tube to the next rider who needs it in such a situation, that is certain!
But what a beautiful day to ride, what an awesome ride (didn't realise how much I miss riding on my own!).
