These 'mad bike skills' are only the same skills you should have if you drive a car. That and a good dose of HTFU. When you do this (ride like you'd drive) the drivers are suddenly confronted with the fact that you are there, right in front of them, and they have to give room.
Just my experience, over the past 30 years or so.
I don't like green bike lanes through roundabouts. Legally, if you use them they force you to give up your right to proceed through the roundabout. You now have to give way to vehicles overtaking
. You can still ride the roundabout as a vehicle in the car lanes however.
