Some people just have way too much aggression (the male passenger of the car in this case is one example) and should really burn it off by hopping on a bike and going cycling, IMO.
Thought of your post when I noticed a very similar article yesterday - and it must have been a media hit, because they're working this topic over today with more...http://theage.drive.com.au/roads-and-traffic/minister-weighs-new-penalties-on-roadrage-disgrace-20130320-2gena.html

Oh, and within their 'quiz' at the end, tucked within the several other listed behaviours, there is 'cyclists flouting road rules'. Division of behaviour by mode of transport. How interesting.
Yeah, that article (or something exactly the same just with a different headline and a few different paragraphs) jumped out at me this morning as well. Very relevant.
The Police are following this one up and the cyclist in my case has made a report, listed me as a witness and I was contacted at 9:53PM last night (lucky he didn't call after 10PM as I go to bed and my phone automatically silences all calls after 10PM).
They want my statement and a copy of the footage. They didn't seem that inclined to want to investigate from what I could hear in the officer's voice because the cyclist said there was no physical damage (apart from bent glasses), but I do not believe that someone should get away with assaulting someone else just because 'no harm was done'.
Maybe once they see the footage they'll sound more serious about it. Or maybe they've heard about so many road rage incidents at the moment that they're sick of it. Or maybe that is standard operating procedure to sound like they don't care overly much. No idea but my statement will be made and the footage presented.
People should not be able to get away with such aggression in this society without consequences.
