I don't like to be passed by somebody if both of us remain in the bike lane, there isn't enough room for that in any bike lane I have ever used. So, I ride to the centre/right of the lane. I am not unfit, so don't really hold any but the most impatient people up and then generally only at the end of my long commute (35km+) or when it is safer to ride slow.
In the section along Wellington I'm talking about there is at least two metres of room (probably 3 in many areas). This is from Johnston Street heading to the city.
If there is room for people to underpass, then there is probably room to ride closer to the left of the lane. There are no parked cars along the left either (or there rarely is). Don't assume lives are being endangered here by cowboys. The car lane on Wellington was narrowed to make the bike lane wider in some sections.
I know we should all sit behind people riding at 15km on the flat. Guess I'm just too impatient
