Discuss cycling as transport and the issues involved in commuting to school, work or to the shops.
I sometime ride Swanston St northbound just past Latrobe St and contiually wonder why for a half block (up to Franklin I think) why there is no bike lanes. They are spending a mintload south of Latrobe and a fair bit to the north but there is one section where the kerb is extra wide and there is parking. Surely this would be a no brainer to remove this short section of parking of maybe 15 spaces. I would have thought that it would be an very easy and cheap way of improving cycling. Just use some spike down kerbing like they have done to the north. I guess they would miss out on the $$$$ for the ticket parking, but that would be a cheap offset for improved cycling on this missing link
