Well folks I tried.
After getting the OK from the Physio I decided that this was week I would attempt to re-start my commuting career.
(Thought I'd drive halfway and ride the rest to get me started).
Prepped the mountain bike last night with the trusty slicks,
Found and fitted the lights.
Got the booties and cold weather gear out.
Forgot to get shoes outof the shed last night but located them this morning.
Alarm went off - had the compulsary single snooze.
Up dressed, ready to go - put bike on car - Bugger!!! - its got a flat.
Get new tube - replace old one which had some wear around the valve.
Oh good I thought, at least its not a pucture so there won't be anything sharp in the tyre.
Pump tyre - stick bike on car, head down freeway.
The loud bang that I heard 10 minutes into the trip should have given it away.
After checking the mirror to make sure the bike had not left the bike rack, I felt somewhat relieved.
Upon arriving at my starting point, I discover the newly fixed front wheel is flat once more.
Yes folks, you guessed correctly what the bang was!
At this point I decided discretion was the better part - bike still on roof, faced with another repair in the freezing cold before even pushing a pedal, I weakened and drove the rest of the way.
Wish me luck for tomorrow cos today ..............
