Back for Around the Bay 2017

17km of bayside riding

Between Dromana and Mornington, riders will experience 17km of Port Phillip Bay coastline. A change made to previous years’ inland route, Around the Bay riders heading back to Melbourne will now duck-off for more coastal views, following the road up to Mornington.

This new section includes the 6.5km lane closure between Safety Beach to Mount Martha. The change in route benefits riders on the 100km Sorrento135km160km210km Sorrento210km Anti-clockwise and 250km rides.

The 160km  ride option

The 160km ride option takes riders to Rosebud and back. Starting and finishing at Alexandra Gardens, the ride will showcase Melbourne's iconic bay side suburbs as it journeys along Melbourne's favourite cycling route Beach Road and The Esplanade between Safety Beach and Mornington.

The 50km  ride option

The 50km ride option is riding along Racecourse Rd and Altona Rd on your way to Altona for the first time. That's 3km's more of parks and coastal roads and less main roads.  Oh and don't forget this is the ONLY time each year you get to ride over the Westgate Bridge both ways.

The 25km  ride option

The 25km ride option is New for 2017.  To help celebrate our 25th Around the Bay, we've added an extra 5km to our traditional 20km ride option. The extra 5km will take in: The Shrine, The Observatory, The Botanical Gardens and Government House.  Don't worry though you can still do the traditional 20km option if you want.
