Families helping families
If you're a parent or guardian, you know what it is like to care deeply for your child—to want to give them every opportunity.
And you are, perhaps, in a unique position to empathise with children living in disadvantage or poverty. That's why the charity partner of the ride, The Smith Family, need your help.
Shockingly, one in 10 Australian children grow up in a jobless household, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
The practical outcomes of this can be devastating—disadvantaged children are much more likely to struggle at school, and are in need of financial assistance for essential items like school books, uniforms, shoes and attendance at school camps or excursions.
For the last 25 years, the event has been a major fundraising initiative for official charity partner The Smith Family — Australia’s largest children’s education charity.
Over the course of the Smith Family’s partnership with Around the Bay, 19,000 disadvantaged young Australians have been supported through the fundraising efforts of participants—1,650 last year alone.
$576 supports a child through a year of primary school education. Why not set a goal for your family to change the lives of another family, by fundraising for the Smith Family?
