City of Stonnington

City of Stonnington takes part in the workplace riding courses as part of their active living program.

December 2010

On Sunday 21 November 2010, The City of Stonnington provided a free Bicycle Workshop which was run by Bicycle Network Victoria and Bike Beyond. This was held at Basil Reserve in East Malvern. It was a glorious day and provided some great entertainment for a sunday afternoon.

City of Stonnington's active living program is a new initiative designed to encourage more residents to get healthy, active and 'live a little' through a range of affordable and accessible activities.

Local residents were encouraged  to take their bikes out of storage, dust the cobwebs off and get them back on the roads and bike paths. The course was tailored to provide practical information and tips for safe bike riding and assistance with mechanical maintenance. The workshop also incorporated bike fitting, bike ride around the area and bike cleaning.

Over the next 12 months Active Living program will offer more free bicycle workshops to boost confidence and riding skills.
