Super Tuesday

Super Tuesday Bike Count on happens every years. It's a great opportunity to raise money for your school.

What is Super Tuesday?

Super Tuesday is Australia’s largest visual bike count, coordinated by the Bicycle Network on behalf of participating municipalities across Australia. The count observes and records rider numbers and movements at key intersections and important commuter routes in the morning peak. Public awareness of the event and what it achieves is growing, with the most recent count (March 2013) receiving media coverage on both Channel 7 News and ABC News.

Super Tuesday provides a growing number of participating councils with reliable annual figures of bicycle commuters and their movements on roads and bike paths, and is a key tool for councils to guide their bike riding facilities.

Super Tuesday is conducted in Victoria, NSW, ACT, Western Australia and South Australia on the first Tuesday of March, from 7am-9am. It's done for 2013 but it's not too soon to plan for 2014.

Visit the Super Tuesday website for more information about Super Tuesday 2014!

How Super Tuesday Benefits You?

Super Tuesday is a great fundraising opportunity for your school. Every signle person that successfully volunteers and completes a Super Tuesday count can nominate your school to receive $50 from Bicycle Network.  The more people that register to count riders and nominate your school the more money you receive!

For example, if ten people register and complete the count and all nominate your school, that’s $500!

How Can the Money Be Used?

Super Tuesday has real benefits for participating schools. In 2010, Brunswick South-West Primary School in Melbourne recruited 22 people to count riders on Super Tuesday.  As reward for their work the school received $1100!  This money was used to transform an empty shed into a shed with bike racks for the students.  The money can be used any way to benefit the school, whether its courses for teachers in Bike Ed or more equipment for students.
